Hurricane Irma was an extremely powerful and catastrophic Category 4 storm that slammed Florida. Most Floridians lost power and some lost Internet access too. Businesses were severely affected and couldn’t fully operate for many days.
Thankfully, businesses that had VoiceOnyx as a business phone provider had much less downtime than businesses that dealt with other office phone service providers.
Transfer to Mobile Phone Feature
“Our clients were thrilled,” proudly admits Ed Warren, Vice President at VoiceOnyx. “Their feedback and response were incredible,” continues Ed. “Any clients who lost Internet had the option of having their work calls forwarded to their cell phone. By using the Transfer to Mobile Phone feature, they didn’t miss any business phone calls. Setting up the whole thing was easily done with the click of a button.”
VoiceOnyx Offers Reliable Servers
VoiceOnyx was able to continue offering its full services because it held servers in different locations. Each location had multiple power sources, thus ensuring continuous access to electricity. “We could get a server up and running immediately because we had three different power sources: the main source, a battery backup, and a generator,” states Ed.
Clients who lost Internet access unfortunately also lost access to their business VoIP service. “Even though we couldn’t restore their Internet access, our clients were able to take advantage of our many free features in order to minimize disruption,” reassures Ed.
VoIP Services Available in Temporary Location
Clients can have access to VoiceOnyx’s VoIP services from any location that offers Internet access. “Some of our clients were very creative. They rented hotel rooms with Internet access, plugged in their Polycoms, and were open for business again in these temporary locations,” explains Ed.
Holiday Closure Schedule Feature
Clients who experienced downtime and who needed to close their business for a few days took advantage of the Holiday Closure Schedule feature. “We offered our clients a special recording message for the closure,” confirms Ed. “We hired a professional artist to record a standard Hurricane Irma message for our clients’ voicemail.”
Unlike many other hosted PBX providers, VoiceOnyx continued to offer full access to its services despite the disruption caused by Hurricane Irma. VoiceOnyx also continued to supply its full range of free features to clients, so that all businesses could minimize the impact of the storm.
