VoiceOnyx offers a variety of options for transferring a phone call to another employee’s extension, a mobile phone, or directly to voicemail.
The default setting on your Polycom phone is known as an attended transfer, or consultative transfer. This feature allows you to check in with the receiving party prior to completing the transfer. If they are available, you press the transfer key again to complete the transfer. If the staff member is not available for the call, it’s easy to return to the customer by pressing the CANCEL key. This will allow you to take a message. If the caller would like to leave a voicemail, transfer to voicemail by pressing the blind transfer key, then dial *74 plus the extension.
When you choose the option to Blind Transfer, the call will go through immediately to the dialed extension and include the caller’s original caller ID. This is best used when your staff member is expecting the call. The call will be picked up by voicemail if the staff member is not available.
Transfer to Mobile Phone
Calls can also be transferred to a mobile phone instead of a company extension. This is a popular feature for those who often transfer calls to the field. For an attended transfer, press the transfer button and then enter the cell phone number. If answered, you have the opportunity to announce the caller before hitting the transfer key again. If your staff member doesn’t answer the mobile number, completing the transfer will put the call through to the cell phone voicemail.
There are numerous methods of call routing that can be set up by VoiceOnyx technicians to best meet your business needs. Calls can be set to ring both a user’s extension and cell phone using the Find Me/Follow Me application. A schedule can also be set for forwarding calls to a cell phone, such as during a lunch break or early close.
